Welcome to Basirhat College

In mid-November 1947 Basirhat College was founded and since then it has been standing for more than half a century on the banks of river Icchamati, which flows by this ancient seat of learning and culture that has witnessed many souls of the soil rise to eminence.

Course Offered

The College offers both Honours and General Courses of study in 3 streams, viz. Science, Arts and Commerce.

The College runs three sections viz., Morning, Day and Evening

Library

The College Library is just sufficient to meet the immediate requirements of the students. The books – both text &reference, journals, collection of papers would amount to about 20,000 to which every year materials are added from the UGC Grant and the College fund..

Administrative Structure

At present the College runs three Sections viz. Morning, Day and Evening.

The Morning section offers to study the General Courses in Arts subjects and Honours Course in Bengali only.
The Day section offers to Study Honours and General Courses in Arts (excepting Education) and Science ( Pure and Bio).
The Evening section offers to study only the Commerce stream—both Honours and General.
